Stories that always make you laugh

My friend Alysun's sister told an ice cream story that she cannot tell or type with a straight face. She asked others to tell their stories too. To read her story visit The Attic. Sure my mother could tell lots of ice cream stories about me, but the one that I will giggle through every time involves golden retrievers.

The summer of 2001, I was camping with my friends Mike and Linda Bishton in Kamloops, B.C. at the Canadian Silhouette Nationals. The sleeping arrangements included me on the fold out couch with Finnegan, 70 pound puppy who thought he was a catcurled up next to me, and the curly girl Casey would sleep on the floor next to us.

Casey had taken to digging outside the trailer and eating rocks when tied up while we were on the rifle range. In this case what goes down, must come back up. In the middle of the night, Casey started that dry heave sound that I know so well from having cats. To my benefit, she was aiming her little face right in mine with her head resting on the bed. Being August in Canada, it's still cold outside in the middle of the night and I didn't want to get out of bed. So I just pushed her head away so she would at least throw up on the linoleum floor, much easier to clean up that way. Finally hearing this, Mike springs out of bed to grab the dog and haul her outside, but in the activity he grabbed me by the back of the neck instead. Of course I wasn't going to move and I just looked and him and said"ah....hello" at which he finally stopped pulling on me and and looked at me rather questionably and announced..."Oh...you're not the dog."

The three of us laughed for about an hour after the episode was over and laughed about it for the rest of our week in Kamloops with our other friends.

This is Fluffy Finnegan the day Mike and I picked him up from the breeder. He cried all the way to from Eugene to Vancouver before he had to get on a plane to Calgary. It was only 6 months later until he was almost 70 pounds. Even years later he would still sleep on the back of the couch like a cat.
