Yes...China

2 weeks ago I left for what I thought would be a 5 day trip to Portland. I had 3 1/2 days planned in the office, and Saturday we had tickets to take my neice to the Nutcracker followed by a sleepover with Kyle and Kassidy at my mom's. The last night of my trip, I was asked to bump out my return flight to Nashville, and Sunday morning I was told we were leaving for China Monday morning. This time of year, trips with no notice at all are not that uncommon. I had a last minute trip to China as well last year, but I think I had 2 days notice for that one.

Monday morning I arrived at the airport with 2 other men from work to find out that our flight from Vancouver B.C to Hong Kong was cancelled due to the storm. See Peter's Paradise for some aerial photos of the floods. Tuesday we were finally on our way, but we now only had 1 and a half days to get our work done over there. Luckily the trip and the work went very smoothly, and Friday night we were back in Hong Kong for a little shopping before flying back to Portland Saturday. I spent a few more hours in Portland before flying back to Nashville Sunday morning. I'm still sluggish from the trip, you would think after spending so much time on an airplane it just wouldn't matter anymore.

The smog really is this bad...it's very depressing.

The Olympic Committee is advising athletes to wear gas masks 'on and off the field.' How did China get the bid? Glad you're home!
